Knowing Your Brain State
If you have strong emotional drives for overeating, knowing your brain state can be enormously helpful. It is essential for food addicts to differentiate a stressed state that feels rewarding yet is addictive from a balanced state in which they feel complete and satisfied. Becoming emotional brain literate gives those struggling with food addiction a new tools to stop judgments and to begin healing.
The Basics
Binge eating, weight roller coasters, and over-restriction of foods are signs of stress. EBT was initially developed to treat emotional overeating, only later being applied to other stress symptoms.
The EBT Approach
The drive to overeat and over-restrict food is promoted by stress, so the first step in overcoming eating disorders is to learn emotional processing tools so that the daily stress of life eases. The next step is to re-encode the circuits that trigger strong emotional drives to overeat or over-restrict food.
The program is comprehensive, including lifestyle, healthcare, tools and community. Group training is highly effective and periodic one-on-one coaching adds to the experience. The goal of EBT is to move up the brain's emotional set point to a state of balance and reward, so the training continues through six courses ("EBT Kits") until the brain's set point is balanced, with an abundance of rewards.
Getting Started
Take our EBT Basics: Wired for Joy Course. You'll begin to think in terms of brain states, and wires, and learn how to switch your brain from any level of stress back to joy. Continue with the advanced courses until you have what you most want from this training. The rewards of a brain in balance are: sanctuary, authenticity, vibrancy, integrity, intimacy, spirituality and freedom.
Choose the reward that matters most to you, and then move through the EBT courses until you have an abundance of it, and your brain is wired for joy.
