Knowing Your Brain State
If you have struggled with anxiety, knowing your brain state can be very powerful. There are 3 brain states in which anxiety is common, yet for each one there are different symptoms, as well as different skills. Whether your goal is to soothe and comfort yourself when anxious or to actively switch up your brain state, this knowledge and, in general, emotional brain literacy are essential to the treatment of anxiety.
The Basics
Moderate to high stress impacts 75% of adults and 42% report increased stress in the last year. Stress can lead to chronic or intense anxiety in 18 percent of adult, and is typically treated with medications and/or psychotherapy.
The EBT Approach
Brain studies have shown that in stress, the brain cannot experience the natural rewards of feeling peace and power from within. The wiring that connects the thinking brain and the feelings brain separates, so the electricity of feeling warmly connected to ourselves fades. Anxiety and panic are symptoms of that wiring problem.
Moreover, in stress, we cannot access our natural rewards, so the brain defaults to creating strong drives for artificial pleasures, such as overeating, overdrinking, overworking and overthinking. The EBT approach is learn tools to get that joy back, and how to rewire the wiring that increases our capacity to feel warmly connected to ourselves.
The goal of the method is to rewire the brain's set point for freedom from the whole range of common excesses and an abundance of the joys of an exceptional life.
Getting Started
Take our EBT Basics: Wired for Joy Course. You'll begin to think in terms of brain states, and wires, and learn how to switch your brain from any level of stress back to joy. Continue with the advanced courses until you have what you most want from this training. The rewards of a brain in balance are: sanctuary, authenticity, vibrancy, integrity, intimacy, spirituality and freedom.
Choose the reward that matters most to you, and then move through the EBT courses until you have an abundance of it, and your brain is wired for joy.
